Better Late than Never...

Yep,  I am behind with my blogging.  I am slowly catching up and I wanted to share some of my fav. photos with you.  These were taken for a very special girl on her birthday (these were in the summer).  Lisa,  an interior designer thought of all of the details for her daughter's b-day...from the chevron print tablecloth to the sparkly, gold chandelier; Svea had a birthday fit for a special girl.  A lot of the fun party supplies were purchased from shopsweetlulu.

I love babies.  I love their laughter & giggles, tiny fingers & toes,  but I really enjoy watching them interact within their environment.  I was fortunate to photograph baby Anne at her home.    I photographed her in natural light and within a small space.   At such a young age, Anne is already full of personality.  She had so many sweet and adorable expressions that made me smile.
                                        Look at this one...

And this one...I love the raspberry!

Sweet baby Anne...

I love GOLDEN HOUR when shooting.  Golden Hour happens in the evening when the sun starts to  set.  I'm in the lower mainland,  so from 6:30 - 8:45 pm it's prime shooting time (for me, anyways!)  This photo was taken at beautiful Tynehead Park in Surrey, B.C.

SPRING is here!   Spring is a time for new beginnings; I for one, enjoy seeing new plant life growing from the ground, the birds chirping and the start of longer days.

A mini session is a great way to have some memories created.  Our children grow way too fast;  it is nice to be able to freeze time and hold precious moments forever.  A mini session is a nice option if you don't want a full session.

Some location suggestions:  New Westminster Quay Boardwalk, Tynehead Park,  Bear Creek Park & Historic Stewart Farm.

Time:  10:00am - 2:00pm

Let me know which time you would prefer.

See you soon - Jennifer

Tuesday 21 January 2014

Good morning everyone.   I am going to start posting "Tuesday's Tips" on my blog and on Facebook.   Once a month, I will provide information regarding many photography tips, for example:   what to wear to your photography shoot, cloudy day shooting,  what to pack for your kids to help make the shoot go smoother.

Tuesday's Tip:
Is it better to shoot on a cloudy day versus a sunny one?  Don't get me wrong, I enjoy photographing in the sun, especially during the golden hour and at dusk.  There are reasons to shoot on a cloudy day:  no squinting,  or dappled light,  hot heat,  and on the positive -catchlights.   But,  when their is direct sun on eyes it can result in the client (s) to squint.  On a cloudy day, you don't have to worry about sun glare.

Below, his eyes are wide open and he isn't squinting!

Dappled Light:

Have you ever seen light that looks spotty or sliced on people?  That is dappled light.  On a cloudy day, the light is even and is relatively easy to work with;  you have an idea of what to expect.

My family and I recently travelled to tropical Maui.  We watched the sunset a few times and noticed how many people would gather on the beach to witness the beautiful Maui scenery.  At different points during the sunset, the sun created so many colors in the sky, on the beach & on the ocean.  This sunset was our last one.   I'm so glad that we made the decision to get away as a family...TIME together was the greatest Christmas present of all.

Happy New Year!

Happy Feet!
